Biosketch:
Lynell Nelson has been the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Coordinator for the NIDDK since 1996. She also serves as Privacy Act Liaison, Records Management Officer, and OMB Clearance Official for the Institute. Lynell joined the NIH team in 1991, as Secretary for the Director of the Office of Disease Prevention and Technology Transfer at NIDDK. During her many years of Federal service, Lynell has previously held positions at the Department of Veterans Affairs, the General Services Administration, and the White House. Some of the awards she has received through her years of Federal Service include Special Contribution Awards, Employee of the Month Award, Special Service Awards, Merit Awards, NIH Fire Safety Awareness Award, and the President’s Reorganization Project Commendation in 1979. Lynell has served on various NIH committees such as EEO Advisory Group, Employee Appreciation Day Committee, and as Quality of Work-life Representative for the NIDDK.
