NIDDK supports predoctoral training via:
- DK-funded institutional training grants (T32s). You must apply for a position on the grant by contacting the Principal Investigator listed, not the NIDDK.
- Funded research project grants of your dissertation advisor/mentor. Talk to your graduate school or your advisor about this.
- Individual fellowships to increase diversity of the scientific workforce. NIDDK supports students students with disabilities (definition) and students from minority groups underrepresented (definition) in the biomedical sciences. For students from disadvantaged backgrounds, consult with the program director before preparing an application since eligibility related to a disadvantaged background is extraordinarily difficult to justify for individuals beyond the high school or undergraduate level.
