Believe it or not, experts are predicting that because of the high numbers of children considered overweight and obese, this generation is on track to have a shorter lifespan than their parents.

If you’re a parent, you can take action to help your children stay at a healthy weight by encouraging them to be more physically active. Here are some tips to help your children move more every day:

- Encourage them to do things they enjoy, like playing basketball or jumping rope.
- Help them find fun things to do besides watching TV, like riding a bike or playing catch.
- And be active together as a family–one way is to plan outings such as trips to the zoo or a walk through the park.
