Are you a parent? If you are, you should know that your child is at risk for developing type 2 diabetes if diabetes runs in your family or your child is overweight.
Hi, I’m Dr. Griffin Rodgers, bringing you “Healthy Moments” from the NIH. I’m the Director of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases.
Today, the rate of childhood obesity is soaring, and we’re seeing more children developing type 2 diabetes.
To help lower your child’s risk for type 2 diabetes, encourage him or her to make healthy food choices and be active every day.
Walking, biking, swimming, or playing ball are good options. Slowly work up to doing 60 minutes each day.
