Do you ever have cravings and wonder how you can eat healthy and still enjoy french fries, meat, and sweets? I have some tips.
Hi, I’m Dr. Griffin Rodgers, Director of the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases at NIH.
Eating healthy is one way to stay at a healthy weight. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t splurge every once in a while.
When you eat a meal high in fat, pay attention to portion size. For instance, eat a small serving of french fries instead of a large one and try not to eat them every day.
Keep in mind, one serving of meat is 3 ounces – about the size of a deck of cards. Bake or broil instead of frying. Add fruit at the end of a meal if you are still hungry.
When you do eat sweets and desserts, choose options that are low in fat and sugar.
