Available NIDDK Research Materials

As part of their research mission, NIDDK scientists develop new research resources including biological materials such as antibodies, cell lines and mouse models; experimental therapeutic compounds; and other resources, such as devices and softwaredevices. These research resources are made available to the global research community for further research, development and/or commercialization. For more information, please view our online catalog.

For UBMTA Signatory Organizations
In an effort to streamline the process for sharing certain NIDDK research resources with scientists working in organizations that have signed the Uniform Biological Material Transfer Agreement (UBMTA) Exit Disclaimer Icon, NIDDK encourages academic and non-profit institutions to exchange non-infectious or non-human materials for non-commercial in vitro or animal research under the UBMTA similar to the materials transfer policy adopted in 2009 by several U.S. academic research organizations that minimizes the paperwork required for these transfers. The 2009 policy can be found on the website for Stanford University’s technology transfer office at http://www.stanford.edu/group/ICO/researchAdmins/documents/MTA5-14-09.pdf (PDF, 77 KB)* Exit Disclaimer Icon. If you are a scientist working at an external UBMTA signatory organization Exit Disclaimer Icon, you may receive these non-infectious, non-human NIDDK materials under the terms of the UBMTA; an email referencing the UBMTA and originating from the OTTD will serve as a record of the transfer. We hope that other research organizations will join this effort to streamline the transfer of research materials.

For commercial research and other business purposes , NIDDK’s research resources are available to industry under a license agreement.

If you would like to request an NIDDK research material, please contact OTTD at: mta@niddk.nih.gov

For non-commercial research to be conducted at universities or non-profit research organizations, NIDDK’s research resources are available under a material transfer agreement.
