Current Research

Our long-term goal is to enhance the knowledge and ultimately advance the care of patients with parathyroid tumors and parathyroid hormone signaling disorders. The primary disorders of interest include a) parathyroid cancer and atypical parathyroid tumors b) Jansen’s metaphyseal chondrodysplasia c) heritable forms of primary hyperparathyroidism including familial hypocalciuric hypercalcemia, multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 and d) pseudohypoparathyroidism and related disorders.

Applying our Research

We aim to elucidate the pathophysiology of diseases under study and identify novel biomarkers and treatments.

Research in Plain Language

We study patients with parathyroid cancer or atypical tumors or disorders of parathyroid signaling. Some examples of these disorders are:

  • parathyroid cancer
  • Jansen’s metaphyseal chondrodysplasia
  • heritable forms of hyperparathyroidism including familial hypocalciuric hypercalcemia, multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1, familial isolated hyperparathyroidism and hyperparathyroid jaw tumor syndrome
  • pseudohypoparathyroidism and related disorders

We wish to identify new predictors which can predict the disease course and identify novel treatments for these disorders.
