As Program Director in the Division of Digestive Diseases and Nutrition, I oversee basic and translational research in the pathobiology of small and large intestinal epithelial cells (IEC) layer. My research portfolio encompasses studies on IEC structure metabolism and function, transport mechanisms, vesicle trafficking, and factors influencing mucosal epithelial homeostasis. Additionally, I oversee research aimed at developing physiologically relevant tissue and organotypic cultures to model IEC interactions and functions in both health and disease.
