Responsibilities & Activities

I direct several programs under the Division of Kidney, Urologic, and Hematologic Diseases. My responsibilities include managing clinical studies on Kidney Precision Medicine, the outcomes of kidney donation (APOLLO), and pain in hemodialysis patients (HOPE). I also serve as the Project Scientist for the APOL1 Long-term Kidney Transplantation Outcomes Network (APOLLO) Clinical Centers consortium.

Research Programs

Hemodialysis Opioid Prescription Effort (HOPE) Consortium
A randomized controlled trial of Pain Coping Skills Training in patients treated with hemodialysis for end-stage kidney disease. The intervention is hypothesized to reduce pain interference and opioid prescription medication doses in patients. The study finished follow-up in December 2023. Data are currently being analyzed for submission of the primary results for publication.

Kidney Precision Medicine Project
Identifying critical human cells, pathways, and targets for new therapies in acute and chronic kidney diseases.
